Ahonui

Privacy Policy

Last updated 28 July 2026

Ahonui is a health app, so most of what it holds is data you would not want loose. This policy says plainly what is collected, where it goes, and how to get rid of it.

The short version. Ahonui collects the health entries you log and the goals you set, so they survive a new phone. It does not track you, does not advertise, does not sell or share your data, and does not use your health data to train any model. Deleting your account deletes what is on it.

Who we are

Ahonui is operated by Bijou Labs LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Bijou Labs", "we", "us"). Bijou Labs LLC is the data controller for everything described here. For privacy questions, including any request about your data, write to privacy@ahonui.app.

What Ahonui collects

Account information

When you create an account we store your email address, your name if you provide one, and an identifier from your sign-in provider. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive and store Apple's private relay address rather than your real one.

Health and activity entries

The entries that make the app work are stored on our backend so they are available across your devices and survive reinstalling:

Category What is stored
Meals Photo, optional note, meal type, timestamp, and whether it broke a fast
Nutrition analysis Calories, macronutrients, and the identified foods for each meal
Fasts Start time, planned length, end time, and whether it was completed or broken
Water Amount and time of each log
Weigh-ins Weight, time, and where the reading came from
Workouts Activity type, start and end time, duration, energy burned, distance, and the source app
Sleep Session start and end, duration, sleep stages, and the source app
Goals and settings Calorie and macro targets, fasting window, exercise minutes, water goal, sleep target, and display preferences
Shield activity Your rules, which protocols were met on a given day, and a record of each time you passed a shield

Apple Health

If you grant access, Ahonui reads workouts, sleep, water and body weight from Apple Health, and writes water back so a log in Ahonui counts everywhere. It reads nothing else. You can review or revoke this at any time in the iOS Settings app under Health, and revoking it does not delete what Ahonui has already recorded.

Health data is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with a third party for their own purposes. Apple requires this and we would do it anyway.

Screen Time and the apps you shield

Choosing apps to shield uses Apple's Family Controls framework. Apple deliberately hands the app an opaque token for each selection rather than the app's name or identifier. That means neither we nor anyone holding our data can tell which apps you picked. Tokens are only meaningful to iOS, on your device.

Photos

Meal photos are taken or chosen by you and stored with the meal, so you have a record of what you ate. They are not sent to any third party and are not analysed. Ahonui does not read your photo library beyond the images you select.

What Ahonui does not collect

Why we process it

Every category above exists to run features you asked for: to show your day, to keep your goals across devices, and to decide whether a shield should be up. Where the GDPR applies, our legal basis is performance of our contract with you for account and app functionality, and your explicit consent for health data, which you give through the iOS permission prompts and can withdraw in iOS Settings.

Who else processes your data

We use a small number of service providers. They process data on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.

Provider Purpose What it receives
Clerk Sign-in and account security Email address, name, and sign-in credentials
Convex Backend database and file storage Everything listed under "What Ahonui collects", including meal photos
FatSecret Food and nutrition database The search terms you type when looking up a food. Sent without your name, email or account identifier. Your meal photos are not sent.
Apple Sign in with Apple, and app distribution Your Apple sign-in, handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in California law.

Connected tools

You can connect AI assistants and other tools of your choosing, such as Claude, to your Ahonui account. Each connection starts with an authorization screen where you sign in and approve that specific tool. Nothing is connected unless you approve it.

A tool you connect can read the health data on your account, meals and nutrition, fasts, water, weigh-ins, workouts, sleep, and your goals, and can log meals, water and fasts on your behalf. Meal photos are never available to connected tools. A connected tool cannot change which apps are shielded and cannot grant shield overrides.

A connected tool acts as your agent, on your authorization, not as our service provider. What it does with the data you let it read is governed by that tool's own privacy policy, so connect tools you trust. Everything a tool logs is marked as its work in your event history, and you can disconnect any tool at any time in the app under Settings, then Connected tools. Disconnecting takes effect on the tool's next request.

Where your data is held

Our backend and our providers operate in the United States. If you use Ahonui from outside the United States, your data is transferred there. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, those transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses in our agreements with our providers.

How long we keep it

Your entries are kept while your account exists, because the app's value is the history. When you delete your account we remove your meals and photos, nutrition analysis, fasts, water, weigh-ins, workouts, sleep, shield rules and override history, your goals and settings, and your sign-in record. Deletion is immediate in the app and clears from routine backups within 30 days.

Your choices and rights

We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

Security

Traffic between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit, and data is encrypted at rest by our providers. Every backend function derives your identity from a verified sign-in token rather than accepting an account identifier from the app, so one account cannot read another's data. No system is perfect, and we do not claim otherwise.

Children

Ahonui is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, write to privacy@ahonui.app and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
